Made from thick green woolen material, with internal lining to the upper portion and sleeves, with pleated back, and a small pocket/slit to the left side, which allows the wearer to insert a hand inside without undoing the coat. Manufactured and retailed by'Simpson' of Piccadilly London.
During WW2'Simpson' of Piccadilly was one of the largest stores to produce. And retail wartime uniform for soldiers, stocking uniforms for both men and women. Simpson' was commissioned by the Government to make a wide selection of uniform clothing, and in total it was calculated that seven million items of such clothing were produced. This heavyweight quality piece is in great shape, with all buttons firmly affixed, and very little signs of wear, there is a moth hole as shown in the photographs above, and some moth track including to the collar as shown above, no rips or tears. One of the best examples of these greatcoats i have ever seen, and a fantastic WW2 collectors item. Length collar to lower hem: 49 (124.5cm).Armpit to Armpit external: 21 (54cm).
